A
young boy from US state of Florida, Burno Delgadillo, suffered as many as 300 seizures
a day. But a daily intake of medical cannabis oil prevented them allowing young
boy to live a normal life.
According
to her mother, Jacel Delgadillo, cannabis helped his son to recover from the
chronic disease after numerous treatments failed and even made his condition
worse.
"He has been through so many medications
that had put him through vegetative states," she told Al Jazeera.
She took a risk of being arrested by giving her
son with a dosage that exceeds Florida’s legal limits of medicinal cannabis.
"I do not care what anybody says. I would
rather have my child on medical cannabis and have him be a child than seeing
his body seize and tremble every other minute," she added.
However, Florida is going to ease medicinal
cannabis restrictions after 71% voters supported an amendment that takes affect
from Tuesday.
With
more and more scientific research along with reported anecdotes as Burno’s improvement
suggest to cannabis potential to cure a wide range of illnesses, an increasing
number of US states are legalizing cannabis for recreation and medical
purposes.
More
than half of 50 US states approve cannabis medical use, yet federal government
still classifies it as prohibitive drug, which has choked research into its
medical capabilities.
