The skin is very sensitive and delicate part of our body that plays a key role in shaping our personal image and overall personality. Having a radiant, flexible and smooth skin is not a dream; however, it would not come on its own. In particular, the type of food we eat has direct bearing on the skin. In general, the foods that keep skin feel great on inside will contribute to helping it look at its best on the outside.

To help you out, this article discusses a list of some health foods; by adding those delicious foods to your daily diet routine you can well be on the road to a perfect skin.




Water:

Though fruit and water tend to be high in water content, however, increased water intake greatly helps the skin. Water keeps the skin well-hydrated and dewy. The water intake with lemon added to it serves as antioxidant and boosts detoxification.

Green tea:


A number of studies show the skin benefits of green tea. Dr David Bank, dermatologist and founder & director of The Center for Dermatology, Cosmetic and Laser Surgery, referring to green tea benefits said, Both animal and human studies have credibly demonstrated that tropical green tea formulations reduce skin damage.”
“Green tea appears to exert sun damage protection by quenching free radicals and reducing inflammation than by blocking UV rays. Therefore green tea may synergistically enhance sun protection when used in addition to sunscreen.” He added.

Coconut oil:


Coconut oil is an anti-inflammatory and antibacterial agent that helps moisturize and clear up the skin. It boosts antioxidant process in human body that slows down the aging process.




Pomegranates:


The efficacy of a sunscreen can be greatly enhanced with fruits containing nutrients which can provide protection from inside out, says celebrity dermatologist Dr Howard Murad. Pomegranates are source of nature’s strongest antioxidants, polyphenol and ellagic acid; they have been practically proven to enhance the SPF of topical sunscreens. Free radicals cause damage to every cell in the body; polyphenol provides a great way to protect against premature ageing by reversing this damage from inside out.

Potatoes and carrots:



Vitamin A also provides protection against premature ageing. Carrots and potatoes are packed with antioxidant beta-carotene which is the precursor to vitamin A.

Almond milk:


Almond milk is a rich source of vitamin E that is a known antioxidant. The collagen and elastin provide skin with elasticity and firmness and they get depleted after prolonged exposure to free radicals. With the passage of time, body’s ability to replenish the depleted supply of collagen and elastin reduces significantly. This depletion causes wrinkles, fine lines and other skin blemishes.
Vitamin E reduces the cell damage caused by free radicals in this way it prevents the depletion of collagen and elastin and that in turn halt premature ageing.

Healthy fats:


Fats and oils are an excellent source of anti-inflammatory protection and youth-preserving antioxidants. Fish contain anti-aging Omega-3 fatty acids in abundance. Nuts provide another great way to have intake of healthy fats as well as skin-protecting vitamin E.

Tomatoes:


Tomatoes provide a rich source of selenium and lycopene both are very strong antioxidants. Tomato’s rich red colour comes from lycopene that protects from damage caused by free radicals. Selenium protects body from skin cancer, sun damage and age spots.

Watermelon:


Watermelon provides an alternative source of lycopene. Whereas Selenium is found in broccoli, fish and eggs.
